The Wave Pictures are back this December, playing our semi-traditional Christmastime but nothing to do with Christmas show, AKA... The Wave Pictures Xmas Extravagnaza!
We'll be in London at The Lexington, presenting you with our usual fun filled non-seasonally themed rock and roll show. The orginal date on Wednesday 20th sold out like a plate of freshly baked mince pies, so we've added a second show on Thursday 21st December. Tickets are on sale now!

New single out now and new album for 2022!
Industrious and prolific as ever, The Wave Pictures return with 'This Heart Of Mine', the first track to be made available from their new double album 'When The Purple Emperor Spreads His Wings', due for 2022 release.
With a nuance of autumn, 'This Heart Of Mine' references time and space travel and memory all rolled into one! Hear The Wave Pictures going full-on country, featuring cowboy harmonica from Dominic 'Hotdog' Brider, Franic Rozycki on mandolin, alongside Dave Tattersall's gentle acoustic guitar strum.

Nina Garthwaite's directors notes on the video for This Heart of Mine/Autumn:
This is the first of four videos I will make for 'When The Purple Emperor Spreads His Wings', which is divided into four seasons. This is autumn. I was lucky that the week I made it autumn was at its best, sunny and cold with long shadows. So I took some photos and put them in the video. The best thing about autumn is that the days somehow feel like they contain all the autumn days that ever were, just right for a song about memories and time.
I'm still exploring animation and this is much more multimedia in style than I've done so far- there are mono-prints, photos, paintings and photocopies. I've probably got over-excited about the flicker technique. There’s also a lot of inspiration from Franic’s bonkers collage posters he likes to do. Although it started as a mistake, during the solo near the end, when the band appears, kind of inside a planet, it makes me think of how long its been since they’ve been able to tour properly and happy (with fingers crossed) that when this album is released they’ll be back, rocking, doing what they love.

and we are looking forward to playing more rock and roll, French style! On our return to the UK we head to Halifax to help celebrate the 10th birthday of The Doghouse,
who have been putting on excellent shows in Halifax for all of that time. In November Dave and Franic make a return to HDIF for a rocking DJ set. This will be at a new venue,
the crypt of St. Giles Church, in Camberwell. Come down and enjoy the sweet sounds of rock n' roll, followed by regular DJ Ian's collection
of soul and indie rock and pop. After all of that excitement then The Wave Pictures get back to rocking, this time at The End Festival.

Dave will DJ for 'Scared To Dance' at The Moustache Bar on August 8th. Expect some classic rock and roll. Jonny will be spinning some tunes with Paul 'Thunder' Rains of Allo Darlin' for 'How Does It Feel To Be Loved',
at The Shacklewell Arms on August 14th. After this DJ excitement The Wave Pictures get back to playing some shows. We are excited to return to Greenman Festival, and the following day
we are back in London to play Love The Lea Festival, which is a free show. Finally in August we have two dates at The Eagle Inn

The Wave Pictures tour of the UK kicks of next week, in Brighton on the 14th. The band will be selling a tour only album 'The Wave Pictures Play Daniel Johnston's 'Artistic Vice'' and will be playing a mix of songs from that album, plus new and old Wave Pictures material. We have added dates in Colchester and Sheffield and conclude the tour in London on November 2nd.

The Wave Pictures have added a London show to conclude the UK dates at which they will play songs from the tour only cd album, "The Wave Pictures Play Artistic Vice By Daniel Johnston". As big fans of Daniel Johnston, the band are happy to announce that they will be touring the album in the UK during October and November.
After this the band will tour the album in Germany, with shows in Belgium, Holland and Switzerland along the way.

This month The Wave Pictures play a one month tour of the US supporting Allo Darlin'.

Long Black Cars, the new album from The Wave Pictures, is out now on Moshi Moshi Records. To coincide with the bands European dates, Acuarela Records will be releasing a double lp with Long Black Cars and Beer In The Breakers.

UK + US Tours
The Wave Pictures UK tour starts this week, culminating in 3 London shows at The Old Blue Last where the band will play a different set each night.
After the UK tour the band will play shows in Spain, before playing a one month tour of the US supporting Allo Darlin'.
The band have also been confirmed to play at this year's No Direction Home Festival, held in June. The date for The Wave Pictures show is yet to be confirmed.
Long Black Cars, the new album from The Wave Pictures, will be released in the UK on April 2nd by Moshi Moshi Records. To coincide with the bands European dates, Acuarela Records will be releasing a double lp with Long Black Cars and Beer In The Breakers.
The next single from the album will be Spaghetti, out on April 9th. The track will be available as a download from Moshi Moshi Records.
